Located in Leptis Magna, Libya, this print captures the striking grandeur of The Arch of Septimius Severus.
The arch is adorned with weathered reliefs depicting scenes from the campaigns of Septimius Severus in Parthia (modern-day Iraq and Iran).
The reliefs portray the Roman army in action, including soldiers, prisoners, and captives. The panels also show the emperor distributing rewards to his troops.
I was particularly inspired by the way the North African sun help pick out the broken pediment of this triumphal arch.
